Privacy Policy

What information Miami WorkConnect collects, why, and who can see it.

DRAFT — NOT YET REVIEWED

This draft describes what Miami WorkConnect actually collects and does today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. The highlighted "Needs review" items must be completed and the whole policy checked before launch.

Effective date: to be set at launch.

1. The short version

  • We collect what you give us to find work or to hire, and what's needed to run your account.
  • Employers see your full profile, contact details and resume only if you apply to one of their jobs.
  • We don't sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your full card number.

Needs review before launch: Add the legal name and address of the business responsible for this information.

2. What we collect

Everyone with an account: email address, password (stored only in scrambled form by our login provider — we can't read it) and whether you're a worker or an employer.

Workers: first and last name, phone number, city and ZIP code, the industry and jobs you want, work types, availability, desired pay, transportation, years of experience, an optional description of your experience, skills, certifications, languages, and an optional resume file (PDF or Word, up to 4 MB).

Employers: company name, industry, and optional business phone, website, address, city, ZIP code and description; and the job posts you create.

Activity on the site: the jobs you apply to or save, application statuses and their history, messages between employers and applicants, saved candidates and private notes, and notifications.

Payments: which plan or single job you bought, when, and the amount. Stripe collects and keeps your card details.

Job page views: we count views of each job page to show employers how their posts are doing. These counts don't record who viewed the page.

Needs review before launch: Confirm what our hosting and database providers record automatically (for example IP addresses in server logs) and how long they keep it, then describe it here.

3. How we use it

  • To run your account and let you log in.
  • To show workers jobs and match scores, and to show employers their applicants ranked by match score.
  • To deliver applications, status updates and messages between workers and employers.
  • To take payments and apply plan limits.
  • To send account emails and the notification emails described below.
  • To keep the site safe — for example, to stop fake job posts or misuse.

4. Who can see your information

  • Anyone visiting the site can see live job posts and the public company page (company name, industry, description, website and city).
  • Employers you apply to can see your full worker profile, your email and phone, your resume (if uploaded), your messages with them and the status of your application. Employers you haven't applied to can't.
  • Workers who apply to your jobs see your company name, your job posts, messages you send them and the status you set. Saved candidates and private notes are visible only to your company.
  • Miami WorkConnect administrators can see account information to run the site and handle problems.
  • We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm or fraud.

5. Companies that help us run the site

These companies process information for us, only to provide their service:

  • Supabase — our database, logins and file storage (including resumes).
  • Stripe — payments for plans and single jobs. Stripe's own privacy policy covers the payment details you give it.
  • Resend — sends our emails.
  • Vercel — hosts the website.

Needs review before launch: Confirm each provider's data-processing terms and the country or region where the data is stored (set in each provider's dashboard), and add links to their privacy policies.

6. Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you logged in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Stripe's payment page, which opens on Stripe's own website, sets its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud.

Needs review before launch: Re-check this section if any analytics or tracking tool is added later.

7. Emails

  • Account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password, changing your email) are always sent.
  • Notification emails (for example a new applicant, a status change or a new message) are grouped into one email at most every 15 minutes. You can turn them off on your Notifications page.

Needs review before launch: Turn on payment receipts in Stripe (Settings → Customer emails), then mention here that Stripe emails receipts.

8. How we protect it

Every request to our database is checked against strict rules about who may see or change each piece of information. Resumes are stored privately and opened only through short-lived links for the worker and the employers they applied to. Connections to the site are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. Workers can replace or remove their resume at any time from their profile.

Needs review before launch: Decide how long information is kept after an account is closed, how long payment records are kept (often required for tax purposes), and describe it here.

10. Your choices

  • You can see and edit your profile or company details at any time from your dashboard.
  • Workers can remove their resume at any time.
  • You can turn notification emails on or off.

Needs review before launch: There is no self-service "delete my account" or "download my data" button yet. Add a contact email for these requests, state how quickly they're handled, and have a lawyer confirm which privacy laws apply (for example the Florida Digital Bill of Rights or the California Consumer Privacy Act) and what rights they require.

11. Children

Miami WorkConnect is not meant for children and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Needs review before launch: Make this match the minimum age set in the Terms of Service.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.

Needs review before launch: Decide how people are told about important changes, and add a contact email for privacy questions.
